Eagle & Lyre is a small specialist company working closely with members of the three
internationally recognised military music societies, The International
Military Music Society (IMMS), The German Military Music Society (DGfMM) and
The Corps of Drums Society (CoDs) in order to make available historic
recordings of military music from the ‘Golden Age’ of British and European
Continental military bands from the 1890s to the 1960s.
Eagle & Lyre Publications publish books about military music and the
ceremonial history of Britain and her European neighbours, and sell second
hand books on military history in general.
We also offer for sale historic and antiquarian items of militaria and
musical instruments from private collections on a commission basis.
Of particular interest for collectors will be our CD releases of rare
British, German and French recordings from the very earliest period from the
advent of shellac records in 1898 to the end of the pre-Second World War era
in 1939.
Our contacts throughout Europe mean that we can offer for sale a range of
interesting new and second hand products. These quality products are from a
variety of small specialist suppliers, or the bands themselves. Hitherto
these products were often only available, and indeed known about, locally.
We are pleased to be able to make them available to collectors through this
website.
For our own label we specialise in using the expertise of individuals
experienced in re-mastering military music from shellac 78rpm discs both for
British Forces Broadcasting Service programmes, TV and Radio programmes and
commercial CD productions. Old recordings are difficult to work with even
with the latest technology, but at Eagle & Lyre we guarantee to use the very
best to bring you only quality re-mastered products.
We hope you enjoy your visit to our website and look forward to hearing from
you.
